THE LITTLE BIG BAND
THE LITTLE BIG BAND comprises of trumpet - trombone - saxophone - piano - bass - drums & vocalist. Trombonist Mike Smith formed the band in 1993 after moving to the Costa Blanca in Spain where they played up and down the coast for ten years including the Benidorm Palace and at six major international Jazz Festivals at Valencia and Alicante.
The band have an extensive and varied library and play in the style of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Ted Heath, Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk etc.
All the musical arrangements were especially written for the band by ex-Ted Heath trumpet player Ron Simmons. Cleverly written to ensure that the sound of a big band is reproduced using only six instruments and one vocalist. You only pay for seven musicians but still get an authentic big band sound!
Having returned to the UK, the band is now available to play in the Yorkshire area. Concerts, Jazz Festivals (Modern or Dixieland), Dinner Dances, Reunions, Dances, Private Parties, Promotions, Garden Parties, Openings and similar functions can be accommodated by this multi-talented group of experienced musicians.
The band is self supporting with its own PA system, music stands, lighting rig and smart uniforms.
